We use a combination of treatment techniques to relieve pain and restore function for problems such as:

•Back & neck pain
•Headaches
•Joint & Muscle Pain
•Sports Injuries

Treatment Options:

Chiropractic Spinal Adjustments & Joint Manipulation

A chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is a specialized procedure that restores motion and alignment to the spine or joints of the body. Adjustments are typically done by hand or by using an adjusting instrument. Most adjustments produce a painless “popping” sound, which is due to a release of pressure from the joint as a result of the adjustment. Patients often feel an immediate difference in pain relief and mobility after their adjustments.

Myofascial Release Therapy

Myofascial release is a form of soft-tissue manipulation or massage used to treat the stiff, injured or dysfunctional muscles that often contribute to back, neck and extremity pain. Myofascial release is performed by applying pressure to an affected area of muscle, while moving the muscle in a specific direction/pattern. Myofascial release is helpful in breaking down painful scar tissue that often forms within muscles, between muscles, or within the muscle’s “fascia” (a thin tissue that wraps around muscles.) Because muscles are so commonly involved in back and joint problems, I use myofascial release and soft-tissue techniques with most patients.

I.A.S.T.M. (Instrument Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization)

Like Myofascial Release therapy, IASTM helps to break down scar tissue (called “adhesions”) that develops in and around muscles, and within the fascia that wraps around them. But instead of using the hands, IASTM uses specially designed instruments with specific shapes and edges, depending on the shape and location of the muscles being treated. Like Myofascial Release, the goals are to relieve pain and restore normal function by improving blood flow, relaxing tight muscles, and breaking down scar tissue. IASTM is very effective in treating musculoskeletal pain, such as muscle strains, ligament sprains, chronic pain, and is especially useful in treating sports injuries.

Assisted Stretching

Although many stretching exercises can be done at home, certain forms of stretching require assistance. In-office assisted stretching can help relieve pain, lengthen stiff muscles, and improve blood flow for better healing. Certain stretches can also help maintain the effects of adjustments for longer-lasting results.

Therapeutic Exercises

Prescribed exercises can help you get even more benefit from your treatment sessions, and give you more control over your symptoms. The right exercises can strengthen weak muscles, loosen tight muscles, improve circulation, and maintain better joint mobility, just to name a few benefits. The best treatment outcomes often result from a team effort between the doctor and patient. But rather than give people hours of exercises to do in an already busy day, I strive to select just a few, simple exercises that I think will have the most impact - the best result for the least effort! (Ideally, I strive to give people no more than a few minutes of exercises each day. I don’t tend to get too many complaints with that!)

Maintenance Care & Prevention

Once you’re feeling better, the goal is to keep you feeling well. To help you stay on the road to health and recovery, we will offer specific advice on prevention, maintenance exercises, and we may recommend follow-up care to help reduce the chances of the pain or problem returning.

Other Treatments:

If necessary, we will refer you to other specialists who we know and trust for treatments such as massage therapy, physiotherapy, acupuncture, among others - depending on what is required for your specific case.
